Privacy policy
This is a translation of the Spanish original. Should the two ever differ, the Spanish version is the one that applies. If anything here matters to your decision and you would like it explained, write to us.
This describes what data we process, what for, and who we share it with. It is written against what the system actually does, not what an app of this kind usually does.
What data we process
Depending on what you do on the platform:
- From your Google account: name, email address and profile picture. We never receive your password.
- Your contracts: which Audio Tours you have hired, when, at what price and until when you have access.
- App usage: the days on which you opened it and how many times each day. We store the day, not the time.
- Journeys: for each place in an Audio Tour you have hired, how close you got, with what margin of error, and whether the audio played. This is linked to your account.
- When preparing an itinerary: the point you start from and the one you return to, both given by you.
- When downloading a package: the IP address the link was redeemed from, to detect misuse.
- If you are a creator: your introduction, country, the content you publish and your revenue and payout records.
What we do NOT process
We do not store your route. The app knows your position continuously while you are using an Audio Tour, but that position never leaves the phone: the only thing sent is how far you were from each stop, which is a number, not a coordinate. It cannot be used to reconstruct where you walked or drove.
We do not store card details. Payments are processed entirely by Stripe.
We do not sell data to anyone, and we do not use it for advertising.
What we use it for
Every piece of data has a specific use:
- To identify you and give you access to what you have hired.
- To take payment and, if you are a creator, to pay you.
- To tell whether trigger radiuses are realistic: if many people stop 80 metres from a place whose radius is 50, the creator needs to know.
- To tell a playback failure apart from a place nobody reached, which are different problems.
- To understand how much the platform is used, so we know what to work on.
Who we share it with
Only with the providers needed for the service to work:
- Google: for sign-in. If you generate synthetic voice, the narration script. If an Audio Tour includes an itinerary, the coordinates of its stops and the start and end points you give.
- Stripe: to take payment and to pay creators.
- Our email provider: for notices about your creator account.
- Authorities, where a legal obligation requires it.
How long we keep it
- Your account data, for as long as the account is open.
- Contracts and their amounts, for as long as tax and accounting rules require.
- Journey and app usage data, 24 months.
- Download IP addresses, 12 months.
Your rights
You may ask us to access your data, correct it, delete it, take it to another service, restrict its processing or object to it. Write to hola@audio-journey.com and we will answer within the legal deadline.
If you believe we have not handled your request properly, you may complain to the data protection authority in your country.
Closing your account deletes your personal data. Accounting records of sales are kept without any link to your identity, because the law requires us to keep them.
App permissions
The app asks for access to your location, including in the background. Without it, it cannot tell when you arrive at a place, which is the whole point. You can withdraw it in your phone settings: the Audio Tour will still work, but you will have to play each stop by hand.
It also asks permission to send you notifications, used solely to tell you when the recommended time at a stop runs out.
Changes to this policy
If we change anything substantial, we will ask you to accept it again the next time you sign in. The version in force appears at the foot of this page.
